Take an Historic Walk With Us

Join us for a unique walking tour of Oak Island. FOIS tours are lead by Oak Island Historian Charles Barkhouse. Tours are conducted between June and September each year and are limited to 125 people – and we walk rain or shine!

Tours are about 2 1/2 hours long as we visit historically important locations along our route, including the Swamp, Money Pit, Borehole 10X and Smith’s Cove.  Learn about past treasure hunting activities and about the former residents of the island.

On the day of your tour…

  • We ask you arrive no earlier than one hour prior to your tour; this helps avoid issues with traffic congestion.
  • When you arrive, there will be signs to indicate where you need to stop. Do not cross the causeway until a FOIS team member has validated your tickets.
  • Please have your ticket voucher ready to show to avoid delays.
  • Your tour ticket includes exclusive access to the Oak Island Interpretative Centre.
  • Please remember this is a walking tour – make sure you have comfortable shoes and are prepared for the weather conditions of the day.  It’s also a good idea to make sure you bring insect repellant.
  • Our Gift Shop sells water and other beverages, as well as FOIS and Curse of Oak Island branded swag.
  • We love dogs, and they are absolutely welcome to join you on your tour, but they must remain on a leash at all times.
  • For persons with mobility issues, there are a limited number of spaces on golf carts. Carts are driven by our Tour Escorts. Places on these carts cannot be booked in advance and are available on a first come first serve basis on the day of your tour.
